Now this is the real deal, recorded in the early '70's down in New Orleans.  Conrad "Connie" Jones assembled a stellar cast including the great Eddie Miller on tenor and my old friend, the inimitable Rick "Cougar" Nelson  on trombone and outlandish vocals.

Cougie's bizarre yodeling rendition of "Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans" simply has to be heard to be believed.  His trombone playing, as always, had a laser-like intensity to it - something that was quite impressive in person.  He is definitely missed not only for his great playing, but for his world-class comedic abilities that kept audiences in stitches for years with the Mickey Finn Show.

By the way, the back of this album is autographed by Cougar to my friend Kirk (leader, The RiverCity6) - handwriting analysts will have a field day...
