The first time I heard him out on the circuit I was as caught up as the rest of the audience in the unusual energy he emanates from the stage:  a sense that you're in the presence of some remarkably complex and perhaps even slightly dangerous event not unlike the most delicate brain surgery.  Somehow, he makes you feel that without your coming along side him emotionally, the patient will be lost.  With sublime concentration, he leads you moment by moment along a high wire stretched taut over a chasm churning with hungry, snapping crocodiles, eagerly awaiting some fatal misstep that guarantees a whitewater fight over dinner.
